Writer’s Haven: Where words flow and stories come to life 🏰✍️
Your writing dreams deserve a magical setting. At Château Coliving, we’ve created a special month where writers unite, stories unfold, and creativity thrives within the walls of our 12th-century French castle.
This experience is designed for both professional and aspiring writers. You don’t need to be published or write full-time to join. Your main job or business doesn’t have to involve writing either — in fact, we expect everyone to have their own work commitments during the week, and we’ll co-create the schedule around that.
A DAY IN THE LIFE - WRITER'S HAVEN COLIVING
🏰 Imagine waking up well-rested in your beautiful castle room, the morning light dancing across your notebook from yesterday’s late-night inspiration session. Through your window, the misty marshes of Normandy set the perfect mood for your next chapter.
☕️ Following the centuries-old spiral staircase in your comfy clothes, you join other writers in the shared kitchen. The morning conversations flow naturally – a poet sharing their latest inspiration, a novelist discussing character development, and a copywriter sketching ideas for their next campaign.
✍️ The morning unfolds into focused creation time. You gather with your writing group for the day’s first creative session. You share your writing goals with your accountability partner and dive into your work. Something about these castle walls makes writer’s block melt away.
🥐 When it’s time for a break, some colivers gather in the shared kitchen, unpacking treasures from the local farmer’s market – fresh cheeses, crusty baguettes, and seasonal fruits. The casual conversations over lunch often turn into impromptu brainstorming sessions. A stroll through the park follows, where the crisp air and castle grounds bring new perspectives.
⚡️ The afternoon power hour brings everyone together in quiet solidarity – phones off, creative energy high. The only sounds are the gentle tapping of keyboards, the scratching of pens, and the occasional crackle from the fireplace.
🎯 As day transforms into evening, you might retreat to your room for solitary editing or join others in the castle’s living room, where impromptu discussions spark new ideas around a glass of wine and travel stories.
⭐️ The stars shine brighter in the French countryside, and as you settle into your comfortable bed, notebook close by for midnight inspirations, you’re already excited about tomorrow’s chapter in your Writer’s Haven story.

THE TEAM
Writer’s haven facilitator – Writing Coach, Editor, Publishing Consultant
Kristen brings over a decade of industry experience to her work as a writing coach, editor, and publishing consultant. After earning a BFA in Creative Writing and an MA in Management in the Creative Economy, she’s worked with over 150 authors across genres and publishing paths, helping them elevate their writing, refine their manuscripts, and chart a publishing strategy that works for them.
Helping writers grow in supportive spaces is at the heart of Kristen’s work. She knows what it feels like to choose a creative path that’s deeply personal, one that’s shaped more by passion than predictability. That’s why she chose to be a writing coach, editor, and publishing consultant, all together: to offer guidance, clarity, and encouragement through every phase of the writing and publishing process so writers can move forward with confidence.
Kristen brings her signature blend of expertise, curiosity, and encouragement to every project and conversation—whether you’re brainstorming your plot, revising your latest draft, or querying agents. She understands no two writing journeys look the same—and when you own your story, it leads you exactly where you need to go.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does co-creation mean?
Co-creation means you will have active involvement in designing how we spend our time during the month. Everyone who joins us will have the opportunity to be a student and a teacher. This is a collaborative experience, and there will be no paid workshops with external consultants. Instead, each participant will have a dedicated time slot during the month to share something useful and inspiring with the group. We welcome you to either teach a workshop session, share a big learning or pivotal experience, or, if talking in front of others is not your thing, you can play for us your favourite movie, TED talk, fragment from an audiobook, or anything else you think is worth sharing. Each participant will be encouraged to lead an inspiration session during the month and contribute to enriching the group with something that resonates with them.
What should I expect during the month?
You can expect an inviting atmosphere with your peers; days will be filled with dedicated time to work, rest, and leisure. Each week there will be collaborative, peer-led sessions such as a writing exercise, show and tell, or skill-sharing.
In addition to that, each participant will have their own dedicated time for a mastermind/feedback session with the group (optional). Share with us any challenge you might be facing in your writer journey, be it on the creative side, branding, commercial, personal, or anything else, and let’s all brainstorm and find solutions and ideas to help you with it. It’s all about collaboration and community!
Socially, there will be a variety of shared meals (Sunday crepes have always been a Chateau favourite) throughout the week and self-catering. Opportunities for short day-time breaks, such as a walk on the Chateau grounds or a coffee chat, are abundant, and weekends will be dedicated for relaxation or exploration around Normandy, depending on the vibe of the group.
Overall, the intention for the month is to immerse yourself in a writing environment all about collaboration and community!
Will people coming solely be writing or can I continue my "9-to-5"?
If writing is not your main job (yet), don’t worry, you won’t be the only one. The Chateau is fully adapted for working remotely and you will be able to go on with your work routines during your stay.
Of course, it would be ideal if you try to take a bit less responsibilities than usually during that month, in order to allow yourself time to join most of the sessions and activities, but keep in mind that none of those are mandatory, so you can fit in what your schedule allows.
While I have to write a lot for my job, I don’t necessarily consider myself a writer, will I fit in with the rest of the group?
You don’t have to be a published or professional writer to join the Writer’s Haven Experience. If writing in any form is part of your job or personal aspirations, we consider you a writer and a perfect fit for this exceptional month. There are no rules when it comes to creativity and we are sure that we can learn a lot from each other and build very meaningful connections!
How many people will there be?
Can I bring my kids ?
At Chateau Coliving we have separate accommodation dedicated to guests with kids – our 17th-century Manor house. The Manor is currently not part of the Writer’s Haven project, but if all the castle rooms get booked, we will consider opening up a few extra rooms and apartments there.
If you would like to come with your child, please read our CHILDREN POLICY and contact us at welcome@chateaucoliving.com, so we can evaluate if we will be able to accommodate your request.
Can I bring a partner ?
Yes, you can. When you select your dates and room type, you can opt for 1 person or 2 people and the booking engine will recalculate the relevant rate.
Once you receive your confirmation, you will get a link to a Questionnaire, where we would like you to indicate whether or not your partner will be taking part of the Writer’s program. If they would, we would ask them to fill the questionnaire separately.
Can I bring my pet ?
At Chateau Coliving we have separate accommodation dedicated to guests with pets – our 17th-century Manor house. The Manor is currently not part of the Writer’s Haven project, but if all the castle rooms get booked, we will consider opening up a few extra rooms and apartments there.

Can I only stay for a week or a few days ?
While we understand that some of you would not be able to travel for the entire duration of the Writer’s Month, based on our experience with similar events, where connecting to other participants and finding community is a crucial part of making your participation worthwhile, we will not be accepting bookings for less time than the announced dates.
With that said, if travel arrangements require you to arrive a day later or leave a day earlier, that’s understandable and will not be an issue. Please note that in this case the full rate of the stay will still be due.
Can this be used as a business expense?
Yes, many businesses can claim coworking events like this as a business expense.
You will receive an invoice once you’ve completed your payment. Please don’t forget to note your company details in the registration form.
What is the refund policy?
Due to the nature and planning of this event, reservations are non-refundable, but can be transferred to a friend / colleague UP TO 30 DAYS PRIOR to the start date of the event, subject to our approval.
If you need to transfer your spot, please contact us at welcome@chateaucoliving.com
If we are not able to reach the minimum number of 10 participants, 45 days prior to the starting date, the participants who have paid the deposit will be either fully refunded or credited for a non-curated stay at Chateau coliving during the same dates in order to avoid loss of transportation tickets.
That depends on how much interest we get. The Writer’s haven project will go ahead if we have a minimum of 10 people sign up, 45 days prior to the starting date.
We potentially have space for up to 20 people, if there’s enough interest.
